Rajasthan Royals is the cricket team representing the pink city of Jaipur in the Indian Premier League tournaments. The team is led by ace spinner Shane Warne of Australia who is also the team's coach. Interestingly, the Rajasthan Royals who won the title in IPL's inaugural 2008 season, did not have a brand ambassador and were the only team with a foreign captain and coach. Leicestershire spinner Jeremy Snape is the team's high-performance coach and psychologist.

The Rajasthan Royals franchise of IPL is owned by Emerging Media group with investors - Lachlan Murdoch, Sir. Aditya Chellaram and Suresh Chellaram. Bollywood actress and Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty and her business partner Raj Kundra paid about US $15.4 million for an 11.7% stake in the team's ownership.

The team has an interesting mascot lion - Moochu Singh while 'Halla Bol', sung by Ila Arun, is the team's anthem. Rajasthan Royals also has a promotional video that they aired on national networks before and during the first edition of the IPL which is directed by Indrajit Nattoji of Blink Pictures.

Rajasthan Royals' team logo has a lion to reflect the King, might, raw energy and the power of the royals. It also includes the war horn which denotes the war cry. The RR is a symbol of the crown and the ultimate sign of royalty while the Royal Medallion is the symbol of the clan's pride.

Rajasthan Royals In 2008 IPL Season

Rajasthan Royals, who before the start of the tournament were considered the weakest by many, outshone every other team against all odds to win the IPL's inaugural tournament. In its first match the team lost against Delhi Daredevils by 9 wickets. However, they soon came back with a win over Kings XI Punjab and further winning five consecutive matches. After their fourteen preliminary round matches, losing none at their home ground of Jaipur, their record was an impressive 11-3. They were on the top of the points table and the first to book a seat in the semi-finals. With a victory against Delhi Daredevils, the Rajasthan Royals made it into the finals which they won against Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets.
