Delhi Daredevils In 2008 IPL Season

Delhi Daredevils looked promising right from the onset of IPL's inaugural season since most of their players with the exception of Daniel Vettori, were available for the whole tournament.

The team had a strong batting lineup with Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, both from Delhi, opening the innings. Delhi Daredevils used most of their foreign players to create a bowling attack to reckon with, lead by Glenn McGrath and Mohammed Asif.

The team had a good start by winning four out of five matches they played. The Daredevils, continuing to win matches, finished the round-robin part of the IPL tournament with a record of 7-6, good enough to place them into the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, the Delhi Daredevils lost to Rajasthan Royals by 105 runs. Interestingly, the Royals who had lost to Daredevils in their first encounter went on to win the IPL tournament.
